SADOD (Support After a Death by Overdose)
Our largest project, SADOD (Support After a Death by Overdose), is funded by the state of Massachusetts’ Bureau of Substance Addiction Services. Since our inception in 2019, SADOD has become the go-to grief support resource in Massachusetts for individuals and communities impacted by substance use. Each month, we serve hundreds of people through a statewide network of peer grief allies, direct outreach services, peer support groups, and more.
The goal of SADOD is to increase the capacity and effectiveness of peer grief support in Massachusetts. Our efforts are focused on people affected by death from substance use-related circumstances, including overdose, suicide, homicide, accidents, and medical complications.
SADOD serves three overlapping audiences: bereaved members of the general public; people with a history of substance use including those abstaining in recovery and those receiving harm reduction services; direct service providers serving those at a high risk of dying from substance use.
