One-on-One Support

PSCP’s one-on-one support programs allow people who are struggling to find direct support from a peer who has been through a similar experience. Individualized support from volunteers and paid employees is offered in online and in-person settings.

We respond to incoming requests while offering support through community outreach. We specialize in guiding other organizations through all phases of a grief support project, including recruitment of volunteers, training of all personnel, oversight, evaluation, customization, follow up, and more.

Through our outreach programs, grieving people are contacted by a peer grief helper, who listens with compassion and gives information and support to each person according to their particular needs. Peer grief helpers respond to individuals who contact the organization directly, and also work with local agencies to reach out and provide timely, personalized assistance to grievers.

Through our volunteer programs, a bereaved person and their peer grief helper work together on the issues most important to the griever. Volunteers are not clinicians: they are bereaved individuals trained to support grieving people by having conversations about what each person most needs and wants to talk about. The tragedies suffered by the volunteer and the grieving person create common ground that is the foundation for a mutually healing experience.
